Let’s Talk…

Hello Readers,

I hope that this letter finds everyone healthy and keeping busy.

I need to be candid with you . As of late I had serious case of writers block especially with the elephant in the room– COVID-19 in with the shut down and everything it’s been heavy on my mind in my heart and my brain hasn’t been there the passion hasn’t been there and I want to talk to you today about a few things including what’s going on and how I’ve been affected.

Honestly, this is a different post than what I normally do obviously. It is such a strange time in our lives right now that it’s been hard for me to find me inspiration to want to post do you want to write because of lights going on but I want you to know that I’m always thinking of new ideas.

I want to start with a bit of good news and that being at the end of February I have finally got a job as a kitchen worker in a school district near me and I was starting to work 2 days a week at this point my goal is to eventually increase to five days a week and work full-time because it’s always been a dream of mine.

COVID-19 has been very difficult for me because I had only been working there about a month before my school district shut down and as Governor Cuomo who is the governor of the state I live in has officially shut the schools down until September. Which makes it hard for me because I was really enjoying my job really soon to find a rhythm and a purpose in life and I never thought I would love it and enjoy working with kids and food as much as I have.

I never thought that I would follow my parents into the food service business if you asked me 10 years ago if I would be cooking and working with the food I’d say you were out of your mind but the thing that impacted me the most while working was that about two weeks into my new job the kids in line said we like you and we think you are really cool.

It gave me a great sense of pride to have such an amazing job. Also the one takeaway that I really truly respect is the job of our governor here in the state of New York for everything he’s done in response to that is yes it feels like it’s dragging on for a very long time but at the same time I know he’s trying to protect the people who voted him in to the office of governor and I know that it cannot be easy but everything is I definitely have a greater appreciation for what he has to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

About four days ago I had to run to the pharmacy to pick up some medication when I returned home I felt very uncomfortable and short of breath and I was scared but I reached out to my mother – yes, even at 30 I still do need my mom I guess I do you was just I guess it just dawned on me what was going on and I guess I didn’t realize the depth of how impactful what was going on truly was.

And I am proud of how close me and my mother have gotten over the past few years and especially more so now than ever before. Sunday is Mother’s Day please don’t forget to reach out to your mom and your grandmother and all the moms in your life and thank them for being there for teaching you for guiding you for nurturing you for loving you unconditionally all your life because moms are pretty incredible… I know that mine is pretty incredible.

What is something you’ve done with your time on quarantine? I have definitely learned how to do a few new crochet stitches and patterns, I’m finally done down how to do a magic circle which I’m really proud of.

Before I go… I wanted to share something I’ve been considering… I’ve thought about doing a YouTube channel in unison with my blog I have not decided what I plan on other than talking about different things.

Thank you for reading,

Irish Queen
